| Its very late at night and I just finished my summary for my music video pitch...so i thought I'd share. Its a short film set to instrumental music...Cirque Du Soleil to be exact. A strong storm rages outside as a young brother leads his sister up the stairs with nothing but a candle to light their way. The light bends as they turn down a small hall towards the children’s room. As they open the bedroom door they slowly walk inside and find their bedroom to be a strange and scary place, lit only by the lightning, and warmed only by the cold wind coming from the open window. The brother gives the candle to his sister, and crosses the room to shut the window and shut out the night. Now the room is filled only with the soft and gentle glow of the candle, and the warmth of his sister’s smile. Soon all fear is gone and a sense of play returns to the children. They place the candle on the floor in the center of the room, and begin making shadow puppets on the large white walls. The brother tries his hand at making a fierce barking dog, while the sister makes a gentle butterfly dance around the room. Soon they begin to play with their own shadows, making them bigger and smaller as they move toward and away from the light on the floor. They then take items in the room and begin arranging more shadows, building a world for themselves to play in. A coat rack becomes a towering tree with a rocking horse grazing beneath it, and flowing bed sheets become a stream running across the children’s newly created shadow land. The children play content in their creation until a dazzling bright flash of lightning fills the room, erasing and then changing, all the shadows on the wall. As the lightning dims away, the children stand in awe as all the shadows take on a life of their own. The tree is now surrounded by a forest of trees, all swaying in the wind, and the rocking horse begins to gallop across the now rushing river. Other shadows come to life as well, filling the room with living shadows, and dancing light. The children are soon swept up into the magic of it all, and become king and queen of their fantastical play land, They climb the trees, ride the horses and swim in the river: meanwhile the shadows continue to grow, and lose all resemblance to the items they were cast from. The room itself soon disappears, and all that can be seen is the world of shadows the children play in. After a time, another flash of lightning fills the room, and for an instant the shadows are gone. As the lightning fades, the shadows slowly return, but not as strong as they once were, they have begun to shrink and fade back to their original form, and soon they leave the children’s shadows all alone on the wall. The children look sad as they hold hands in the center of their now normal room, when the wind opens the window, and blows their candle out.
